The Ups of Downs, Tri-State Down Syndrome Support Group is a volunteer, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 2009. We are a group of families, friends and professionals working together to help raise awareness and to promote the inclusion of children and adults with Down Syndrome. Please follow us on Facebook and view our Calendar for upcoming meetings or events.
Our group meets at the East Liverpool Moose's Lodge the third Tuesday of each month.
We are group of loving and caring parents that were given the gift of a child with Down Syndrome. We also want to ensure that our children have every opportunity to reach their full potential. Our aim is to support each other and our children. Our group meets monthly to encourage each other, discuss the journeys of having a special needs child, grandchild, brother/sister, niece/nephew, cousin or friend. We will host guest speakers from time to time to get and share new information, ideas and advice to assure that we are our child's best advocate.
Our group came about in 2009 because one special mom placed an article in the newspaper asking if anyone was interested in helping her get a Down Syndrome group started in our area. We did/do have wonderful support groups in the surrounding areas but until now nothing local. We are now up and running because of one women's vision.
Our mission is to help improve the lives of children and adults with Down Syndrome and their families through research, education, and advocacy. We implement our mission by:
Providing fellowship through monthly meetings, and holiday parties
Supporting Down Syndrome research
Supplying information to new parents and families
